PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The seven senior members of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams were sent off in fine fashion on Saturday, as both squads earned decisive victories over Holy Cross in what marked the final home meet of the 2010-11 season. The women (1-8, 0-1 BIG EAST) earned a 195-104 win, while the men (2-6, 0-1 BIG EAST) won by a similar margin, 192-107.

Senior captains Courtney Larcom (Morristown, N.J.) and Alexis Fatigati (New Milford, N.J.) made the most of their final home meet. Larcom paced all women in the 800m freestyle event (9:41.56) and also earned a win in the 400m with a time of 4:46.04; 35 hundreths-of-a-second in front of teammate and second place finisher, Fatigati. Fatigati did well to come from behind against the Crusader's Kristen Desrosiers to take the 200m free with a time of 2:13.02. Overall, the female Friars won 13 of 16 events and won every freestyle event.

Things went similarly for the men, as they won 12 of the 16 events up for grabs. Sophomore Eric Burtchell (Pawtucket, R.I.) led the way for the Friars by posting three individual victories in freestyle events (800m, 400m & 200m) and anchoring the winning 400m freestyle relay team. Sophomore Chris Morales (Ridgewood, N.J.), junior Collin Casciano (Hewitt, N.J.) and freshman John Nash (Long Beach, N.Y.) placed first, second and third, respectively, in the 200m butterfly. Morales posted a time of 2:15.98, just 1.02 seconds off the team record for the season.

Providence dominated in diving action. Sophomores Allie Black (Mystic, Conn.) finished first and Amie Fracker (Trumbull, Conn.) finished second for the Friars in both heats of the 1m competition. The men had similar results as sophomore Ben Kardian (Valhalla, N.Y.) took home the win in both heats with seniors James Cebulski (Trumbull, Conn.) and Jordan Emerick (Southington, Conn.) earning second and third place finishes, respectively. In the second diving heat, Kardian's posted a dive that scored 277.57 points. The score is the highest of any Friar this season.

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back in the pool on Friday and Saturday, February 4-5, when they travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on the Syracuse Orange.
