Fans,
Things are starting to heat up here in FRIARTOWN with our women's hockey team winning its third regular season Hockey East Championship. As a result of their great season we will be hosting our first ever women's Hockey East Tournament Championship at Schneider Arena. The action gets underway Saturday, March 6 at 12:00 p.m. when the Friars take on the Huskies of UConn. That game will be followed by a 3:00 p.m. match-up between UNH and BU. The Championship game will take place Sunday, March 7 at 12:30 p.m. Come support the Friars in their quest to win the Hockey East Tournament Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Our women's basketball team completed its regular season, putting together their best W/L record since the 1991-92 season when the Friars went 21-9. Thanks to their great year, the team earned a first round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Friars will play the winner of the (9)Syracuse/(16)Seton Hall game on Saturday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. on BIG EAST TV. The game will be held at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.
You may remember in an earlier blog I wrote about "Operation Providence" and our work with our good friends at West Point. We will be conducting a pilot program with our lacrosse program as they enter into the BIG EAST. I am very excited about our working relationship and together hope to help build a championship lacrosse program in the years to come.
