Tennis Opens Spring Season With Loss Against #63 Brown

The Providence College women's tennis team traveled across town on Saturday, February 6 to take on the University of Brown Bears in a four plus one format of matches. The Friars were put down by the Bears, 5-0.
In doubles play, senior Jenn Cusack (Bayport, N.Y.) and freshman Brittany Maddock (Marietta, Ga.) teamed-up and were defeated by Brown's Misia Krasowski and Emily Ellis, 8-0. In singles play, the Friars were denied of wins in all four matches. Junior No. 2 singles player Ayushi Sinha (Mumbai, India) and junior No. 4 singles player Ally Wegner (Morristown, N.J.) were the only two Friars to win any games in the best-of-three-set matches.
With the loss, the Friars fall to 3-2 in head-to-head team matches on the year.
The Friars are back on the courts on Sunday, February 28 as they take on Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla.
