Friar Fans,
Recently, our student-athletes had the privilege of attending the third annual Student-Athlete Career Night. The event, which was held in ’64 Hall, gave our student-athletes the opportunity to network with successful Providence College alumni and business people in their industry of interest. Former Duke Basketball standout Jay Williams delivered the keynote speech in front of a packed house. This dinner event continues to grow and improve every year. I am happy to see our student-athletes and the greater-Providence business communities connect, as it helps to fulfill the college’s mission.
In other news, the men’s soccer team has earned a berth in the BIG EAST semifinals. The final two rounds of the BIG EAST Championship will be held at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. The team, which defeated Villanova in the first round and top-seeded Georgetown in the second, will face Cincinnati in the semifinals on Friday, November 12 at 5:00 p.m. If you are in the New Jersey area, come out and support your Friars as they go for their first BIG EAST Championship.
In winter sports, the men’s and women’s ice hockey teams are hitting their mid-season stride. The men’s team is now undefeated in their last four games, helping them to second place in the Hockey East standings. The women’s team has been equally as impressive as they have started the season 8-3-1. Good luck to both teams as they hit the heart of their respective Hockey East schedules.
Go Friars!
Bob
