Friar Fans,
It is an exciting time to be a Friar! On November 29th at 2:00 p.m. the BIG EAST made a special announcement that Texas Christian University will be joining the conference starting in 2012. The advent of TCU further solidifies the conference as a whole. The conference gains an outstanding academic and athletic institution whose football and basketball programs will make the conference not only bigger, but better.
In other uplifting news, I would like to congratulate our men's soccer team on their deepest run in the BIG EAST Tournament since 1984 and the NCAA College Cup. I had the privilege to follow the team during their BIG EAST tournament run and travel to Ohio State after the team's 6-2 victory over St. Peter's. I was dually impressed with our young men's performance both on and off the field. This speaks volumes about our men's soccer head coach Chaka Daley, who continues to lead the program in the right direction.
Our men's and women's cross country teams continue to be a force in the running world, as our women's team earned a top-10 finish (9th) and our men's team finished 22nd at the Cross Country National Championships held in Terre Haute, Ind. I am very impressed with our harriers' performance. Friar fans, be on the lookout for next year's championship-I strongly believe we will finish even higher thanks to the return of many talented and experienced runners.
