Former Friar Hockey Defenseman Mark Fayne Makes NHL Debut

Former Providence College hockey defenseman Mark Fayne '10 made his NHL debut on Monday, November 22 with the New Jersey Devils. Fayne played nearly 14 minutes and had a plus-1 rating as the Devils defeated the Washington Capitals, 5-0. Fayne is the second former PC defenseman on the New Jersey team this season. Matt Taormina '09 has been with the Devils since the start of the season, but is currently sidelined because of injury.

Fayne was playing for New Jersey's AHL affiliate (Albany) before being called up on Monday, November 22. In 16 games at Albany, Fayne had one goal and three assists.

Fayne played four years at PC and was named the team's Ron Wilson Best Defensive Player each season. In his final season, Fayne earned Hockey East Honorable Mention accolades as he finished with 22 points on five goals and a career-high 17 assists. He also was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team as a freshman.
