Friar Fans,

On Wednesday, a portion of the men's basketball staff and I traveled to the BIG EAST men's basketball media day in New York City. The event, which was held at the world famous Madison Square Garden, featured head coaches and top players from around the league.

As part of our trip, the Coaches' Caravan (Keno Davis, Phil Seymore and Chris Burdick) made a stop in downtown Manhattan to discuss their upcoming seasons with our greater-NYC area alums. Some of the former Friar athletes in attendance included men's basketball players James Best ('88), Carlton Screen ('89), Tim Englert ('06) and Chris Anrin ('04); cross-country standout Richard Yeates ('09); and lacrosse players Dan Ryan ('09) and Chris Hanlon ('09). I'd like to thank Tommy Boyan and his restaurant, P.J. Clarke's, for hosting the event and the 100-plus Friar supporters that turned out.

In other news, I would like to congratulate the athletic department and student body on an exciting and entertaining Late Night Madness. We have worked hard to improve the event year-after-year and I can say with great candor that this year's event was the best yet!

Also, don't forget to come to Friar FanFest this Sunday to help us kick-off the men's and women's basketball seasons. The event starts at 12:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall. The annual Mal Brown scrimmage will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Go Friars!
