2009 Friar Golf Classic Set For June 1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College Athletics Department will host the annual Cox Sports Friar Golf Classic on Monday, June 1 at Warwick Country Club in Warwick, R.I. The event supports the Friar Forever Athletic Fund which strives to improve athletic facilities and provide scholarship and academic support to Providence College's 300 student-athletes who compete in 19 varsity sports.
Participants at the event will have the opportunity to meet and play golf with a number of Friar coaches, including head men's basketball coach Keno Davis, men's ice hockey coach Tim Army, women's basketball coach Phil Seymore and women's ice hockey coach Bob Deraney.
The day kicks off with an 11:30 a.m. luncheon. Each foursome will tee-off in a shotgun format at 1:00 p.m. The day concludes with a 6:00 p.m. reception that includes dinner and an awards presentation.
The entry fee is $500 per person and $2,000 per foursome. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, beverages during the round, prizes and gifts, a dinner reception and an awards ceremony. With each $500 dollar entry fee, $250 can be used as a tax-deductible donation.
