Providence Tennis Falls to Holy Cross

The Providence College tennis team traveled to Worcester, Mass. on Wednesday, April 15 to take on Holy Cross. Coming off a seven-game losing streak, the Friars fought in their tightest contest in weeks. Despite sweeping the doubles matches, Providence struggled in singles competition, only winning two singles matches. The Crusaders went on to defeat the Friars, 4-3.
Senior Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.) and junior Jen Cusack (Bayport, N.Y.) led the way in singles, each earning a victory. Gilroy took the No. 3 spot with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Carolyn Chandley, while Cusack was successful in the No. 5 spot, coming from behind to win, 2-6, 7-5, 6-0, over Ivette Konopka.
The Friars will conclude their season on Thursday, April 16 when they travel to West Hartford, Conn. to take on the University of Hartford at 4:30 p.m.
