The Providence College swimming & diving team wrapped up a week of competition at the 2009 BIG EAST Championships at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday, February 21. Fourteen Friars traveled to the Conference Championships, the most for PC since 2000-01.
The Friars had over 95% season-best performances during the four days of events, highlighted by sophomore Courtney Larcom (Morristown, N.J.) breaking the Providence school record in the 1650 Freestyle. Her time of 17:47.22 was a 22 second drop from her qualifying time and broke Colleen McGarry's mark of 17:53.11 which was set in 1993.
The women finished in 12th place with 54 points, while the men tallied 60 points for 11th place. Notre Dame took first in both women's and men's, with 828 and 782.5 points, respectively.
