Former Friar Colin McDonald Makes NHL Debut

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

Former Providence College men's hockey player Colin McDonald '07 played in his first National Hockey League game on Friday, November 27 for the Edmonton Oilers as they faced the San Jose Sharks. McDonald also played on Saturday, November 28 and scored his first NHL goal as the Oilers faced the Vancouver Canucks.

Prior to being called up, McDonald played for the Sprigfield Falcons, which is Edmonton's AHL affiliate. McDonald played in 135 games at Providence College and finished with 43 goals and 34 assists for 77 points. He was drafted in the second round (51st overall) of the 2003 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.
