Friar Fans,
On Tuesday, October 27 the athletics department held the second annual Providence College Student-Athlete Career Night in ’64 Hall. The night featured 25 professionals from a variety of industries including athletic administration, education, finance, law and marketing to name a few. The 90-plus student-athletes who attended the event received sound career advice from the professionals and were provided with an invaluable networking opportunity. I would like to personally thank Yvette Boisclair ’84 and Mark Mandell for making the event possible. My hope is that the connections made will help our student-athletes succeed in life and continue the strong sense of community felt at Providence.
In other news, the men’s basketball team played their first game in Alumni Hall in 35 years on Saturday, October 31. Over 2,000 fans were in attendance as the Friars handed Merrimack a loss, 97-74. The game created an opportunity for fans to see the completed renovations to Alumni Hall, which I was particularly excited about. I overheard one man walking through the Hall of Fame say, “It was nothing like this when I went here. This is nice!”
I am happy to announce that Providence College is hosting the BIG EAST field hockey championship tournament this weekend on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8. This is the first time in PC history that the College has ever hosted the championship. The Friars take on the one seed, No. 5 Syracuse on Saturday in a semifinal match-up. If the Friars defeat the Orange, they will face the winner of No. 15 Louisville and No. 7 Connecticut. I hope to see you at the games!
Go Friars!
