Friar Fans,
On Wednesday, October 7 we held the Friar Coaches' Caravan in New Haven, Conn. At the event we had head coaches from around the athletic department speak to over 100 Friar donors and supporters to discuss the state of their programs and answer any questions about the upcoming seasons. Women's ice hockey Head Coach Bob Deraney, men's basketball Head Coach Keno Davis, men's soccer Head Coach Chaka Daley, field hockey Head Coach Diane Madl and lacrosse Head Coach Chris Burdick all participated in the event. In addition to the coaches' speeches, I addressed the crowd to talk about the College's capital campaign, which includes raising funds to build a new, state-of-the-art soccer, lacrosse and track stadium on campus where Hendricken Field now lies. The Friar Fans were enthusiastic about the opportunity to support the school to accomplish this endeavor and excited about the upcoming basketball and lacrosse seasons.
In other news, I recently gave a presentation as the keynote speaker at the Careers in Sport Symposium at my alma mater, Ithaca College, in Ithaca, N.Y. In my presentation, I stressed three individual core values that have helped me become successful in all facets of life. These values include surrounding yourself with great people, having purpose and a life's dream and finally, exhibiting perseverance and mental toughness in everything that you do. Following my speech, I accepted the Department of Sport Management and Media Distinguished Sport Industry Leader Award. The meeting then broke out into groups and I was featured as a panelist along with two other Ithaca College graduates to discuss the business of collegiate sports with students looking to get into the industry. Special thanks to Dr. Ellen Staurowsky for putting the event together, as I feel it was a great success.
My last point Friar Fans: don't forget to come to Late-Night Madness on Friday, October 16. Doors will open at 9:30 p.m. I will see you there!
GO FRIARS!!
