Best wishes to all as we have entered the New Year. So far it has been prosperous times in Friartown as the men's basketball team is off to a great start, 3-0, in league play, which included a great road win at Cincinnati on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, the women's basketball team posted an impressive win over 19th-ranked Pittsburgh.
The women's hockey team has a 10-8-2 mark and hosts the sixth-ranked New Hampshire Wildcats on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Men's hockey returns to action this weekend when they host the UMass Lowell on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The team also has a new addition to the roster as Head Coach Tim Army announced today that goaltender Alex Beaudry of Cumberland, Ontario has joined the team. He will be eligible to play immediately for the Friars.
The men's and women's track teams resume their indoor season next weekend at the URI Invititational.
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams are spending the winter break training in St. Thomas, USVI.
Now that you are up to date on all our winter sports action, I hope that you are as excited about 2009 as we are in Friartown.
Come out and support our teams as they make their push for the conference tournaments over the next few months.
