The Providence College swimming & diving teams traveled to the University of Maine on Saturday, January 17 for their first head-to-head meet since December. The women dropped to the Black Bears, 168-106, while the men fell, 179-115.
On the women's side, sophomores Courtney Larcom (Morristown, N.J.) and Alexis Fatigati (New Milford, N.J.) each earned individual wins on the day. Larcom took first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.19), while Fatigati won the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.96). Junior Ryann Dillon (Downington, Pa.) placed first in the one-meter diving event, earning 126.68 points.
On the men's side, junior Tim Reilly (Floral Park, N.Y.) led the Friars to a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 2:03.72. PC also earned a relay victory with juniors Mike Loftis (Branford, Conn.) and Mathew Card (Bow, N.H.), senior Nick Trilla (Belmont, Mass.), and freshman Matt Green (Westfield, N.J.) who took the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Friars return to action on Friday, January 23 when they host Drexel University at home in Providence, R.I. The meet is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
