Providence College Graduate Richard Gotham '86 Helps Guide Celtics To NBA Title As Team President

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College graduate Rich Gotham '86 recently helped the Boston Celtics claim the NBA Title, while serving as Team President. It marked the 17th NBA title in franchise history for the Celtics, and first under the direction of Gotham. The Celtics captured the title with a, 131-92, victory over the Lakers in game six of the NBA Finals on June 17 at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, Mass.
Gotham graduated from Providence in 1986 with a bachelor of science degree in marketing. After graduation, Gotham held several sales positions, including a stint as Vice President of Sales and Business Development with Lycos, before heading to the Celtics in 2003. Gotham spent the first three years with the franchise as Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Corporate Development. He was promoted to the organization's Chief Operating Officer in 2006, then was named Team President in April of 2007.
