Providence Tennis Swept by Connecticut

The Providence College women's tennis squad traveled to Storrs, Conn. on Tuesday, April 2 to take on the University of Connecticut Huskies. After dropping to BIG EAST foe Marquette on Sunday, the Friars hoped to turn things around against another conference opponent. Despite improvements, the Huskies prevailed, 7-0.

The doubles duo of freshman Avery Gibson (Fairfield, Iowa) and sophomore Dara Hawkins-Hodgson (South Euclid, Ohio) kept things tight in the No. 1 doubles spot, falling 8-7. Senior Kate Lyons (Barrington, R.I.) also made strides but dropped 6-0, 7-6.

Next up for the Friars is the University of Hartford. Providence will travel to West Hartford, Conn. on Tuesday, April 8 for the 3:00 p.m. match.
