The Providence College tennis team traveled to Queens, N.Y. on Saturday, April 12 to take on the Manhattan College Jaspers at the Ally Pond Tennis Center. Manhattan, undermanned, forfeited the No. 6 Singles and No. 3 Doubles due to illness. Providence ran away with the advantage, defeating the Jaspers, 4-1.
Earning the point on the doubles side was the duo of freshman Ayushi Sinha (Mumbai, India) and junior Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.) who defeated Manhattan's Lindsey Keeler and Morgan MacTaggart, 8-3. Play in singles was exceptional as Providence won 2, 3, 4 and 5 in straight sets.
The Friars will finish their season at home on Tuesday, April 15 at 4:00 p.m. when they host Holy Cross. Seniors Kate Lyons (Barrington, R.I.), Erin Kenaga (Norwalk, Conn.), and Kate Danaher (Norwood, Mass.) will be honored as they conclude their final season.
