The Night Before Christmas

Dec. 23, 2008
T'was the night before Christmas, and all 'round PC
Coaches and athletes were happy with glee.
Most Friars were home with their family and friends,
Except for the winter teams, who were at it again.
Game plans and strategies with lots to review,
No time for the weary as they had winning to do.
There was much work to do to prepare for the spring;
Training, conditioning, and such important things.
The coaches were planning all through the day,
Knowing their next game was not far away.
The campus was quiet, the dorms feeling still
But in Alumni Hall, they said "practice we will!"
And from the North Pole came a jolly old friend,
To bestow needed wishes as the year comes to an end.
Alumni was busy, every GA at their desk and phone,
Not realizing their bosses would let them go home.
One rounded the corner to find Mr. Claus,
But he had no keys to be roaming these halls.
Saint Nick wanted to see the new additions to PC,
And wondered if he could add some more happiness without any fee.
He noticed the updated hallways, training, and media relations rooms,
But was totally blown away with the BIG Concannon boom.
However there is always much more to do,
As PC had some mores wishes that were old & new.
Santa wanted to do what he could to ensure the Friars success,
So once again he looked at their requests.
Topping the list, once again was the financial man,
As Mac had way too much paperwork in his hand.
Bogged down with budgets and reimbursements galore,
He wished for additional staff to complete these chores.
The academic support staff who work late into the night
Providing academic assistance with all of their might.
Up from the basement and out of the gloom,
They always ask for every student-athlete to academically bloom.
Sports Info. claimed they were good all this year,
However, don't be surprised to see some coal that is near.
They do however, enjoy their new office space,
So there are no current requests to keep up in the sports info race.
For Guyde, season tickets won't be anymore of a worry,
Some other person will have to deal with the ticket flurry.
Santa has granted his retirement from PC this year,
So that he can spend more time with his family dear.
The sports medicine staff always work crazy hours,
But John Rock & crew never seemed to be sour.
For they have received their new room and SwimEx that is sweet,
Where they can easily assist the student athletes and treat.
Stevie Nap's wish in one that will never fade,
To attain more money than he has already raised.
The facility crew has accomplished a lot, with much more to go,
So they too request for some more dough.
The coaches continue to wish for wins for them all,
The department loves when it happens in the Spring, Winter and Fall.
Coach White and his staff adds to this success,
As they use their new strength room to which they've been blessed.
Nearing the end to Compliance Santa got 'round,
Jess and Mike working to ensure no violations to be found.
Wishing their items would be read and every form handed in complete,
Saint Nick chuckled, as this would be quite a feat.
Last but not least was our fearless AD,
The one Santa thought would have the biggest plea.
But his wishes were simple, but extremely dire,
For the teams to win, and chances to say "Go Friars!"
Then Santa and his reindeer took off on their flight,
With a hearty "Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night!"
Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
