On Tuesday, October 28, Providence College Athletics held its first student-athlete career night in '64 Hall on the campus of Providence College. The event was made possible as a result of a generous gift from Mark Mandell of Mandell, Schwartz & Boisclair, LTD in Providence, R.I.

More than one hundred student-athletes attended the event and had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with successful alumni and friends of Providence College from various professional fields including education, entrepreneurism, finance, law, marketing, medicine and real estate.

The event began with a video sent by Mike Leonard '70 depicting his career path from an ice hockey player at Providence College to his current position as a Correspondent for the NBC Network. Following the video, Mark Mandell addressed the student-athletes and encouraged them to seek balance in their professional careers and always carry themselves with integrity and honesty.

"The vision of Providence College Athletics is to become one of the most respected programs in the nation where every student-athlete graduates and has the opportunity to compete for championships. Thanks to the generosity of Mark Mandell and the support of alumni and friends of Providence College, we are one step closer to achieving our vision. I am thankful for the example our alumni have set for our student-athletes and their commitment to help our student-athletes become the best that they can be." - Providence College Athletic Director, Bob Driscoll.
