PROVIDENCE TENNIS TAKES DOWN MONMOUTH, 5-2

The Providence College women's tennis team defeated Monmouth, 5-2, on Saturday October 6.
Leading the way for the Friars was senior Kate Lyons in the No. One singles spot. Lyons defeated Monmouth's Kaitlin Gallagher, 6-3, 6-2. She then teamed up with sophomore Jen Cusack in the No. Three doubles position and defeated Monmouth's Hoffman and Friedna, 8-1. The Lyons-Cusack duo is 4-0 on the season.
Freshman Ayushi Sinha also had a solid showing on Saturday. In the No. Five singles position she defeated Monmouth's Diane Washer, 6-4, 6-2. Sinha then joined junior Amy McDevitt in the No. Two doubles spot and defeated Tienery and Washer, 8-1.
The Friars take the courts next at 9:00 a.m. on October 13 and 14 at the New England Championships in Fairfield, Conn.
