Providence, RI - The 2007-08 college basketball season will open on Friday, October 12 at Providence College's annual Late Night Madness in Alumni Hall. For the first time ever, the event will be streamed live on line to Friar All-Access subscribers at www.friars.com. To access the event, click on "Countdown to Late Night Madness" on the homepage.
The Providence College pep band and rapper Jon Hope will open the Late Night Madness festivities. PC Student Congress will host games and other entertainment to get the crowd ready for the men's and women's teams' introductions beginning at 10:45 p.m. One of the other highlights of this year's event will be a three-point shooting contest for the fans with members of the men's and women's basketball teams. As in the past, PC Student Congress will host talent events that will include performances by the Friar cheerleaders and dance team. Disc jockey DJ Finesse will be playing music to entertain the crowd. The general public is welcome to attend free of charge. The doors to Alumni Hall will open at 9:30 p.m. and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans are encouraged to wear black and white attire to show your support for the team.
At 11:00 p.m., Head Coach Tim Welsh will lead the 2007-08 Friars onto the court where the team will perform several drills, including three-point shooting, a slam dunk competition and other skills tests. For more information on Late Night Madness, call 401-865-2733.
