PROVIDENCE COLLEGE WOMEN'S TENNIS RESULTS AT THE URI SHOOTOUT

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team competed at the URI Shootout on Saturday, September 23, 2006 in Kingston, R.I. Ten friars competed in singles and doubles play. The Lady Friars played against Sacred Heart University, New Jersey Insitute of Technology, and Fairfield University. In round one of doubles play, the Friars competed against Sacred Heart. The lone Friar win against Sacred Heart came from the duo of senior Therese Griffin (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Christiane Darby (Stockton, N.J.). They beat the Sacred Heart pair by a score of 8-0. In round two of singles play, six Friars competed. Sophomore Amy McDevitt (East Greenwhich, R.I.) played to an 8-2 win over NJIT's Grace Bogdan. In round four of singles play, eight Friars competed. Playing in the first singles position, sophomore, Ashley Rissolo (Southport, Conn.) posted a come from behind win (8-4) against Fairfield's Marisa Voloshin. The Friars return to action on Saturday, September 30, 2006 in a home match vs. Merrimack. Play begins at noon.
