Swimming & Diving Announces Team Awards and 2006 Captains

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College swimming and diving program announced its 2005-06 award winners and 2006-07 team captains at the recent team banquet. Juniors Emily Corcoran (Haverhill, Mass.), Katelyn Flynn (Sinking Spring, Pa.), Annie Nemeth (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Jenny Reardon (Needham, Mass.) will serve as senior captains for the women's team during the 2006-07 season.
On the men's side, juniors Brian Confrey (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Tom McLoughlin (Leonardo, N.J.) will serve as senior captains for the men's team during the 2006-07 season. Flynn also received the Cindy Luciani Award given to the squad's most outstanding female swimmer.
In addition, sophomore Kellie Ryan (Dracut, Mass.) earned the Sears Award given to the team's most outstanding diver. Sophomore Jessica McCarthy (Olivebridge, N.Y.) earned the most improved female award, while sophomore David Kerley (Hopkinton, Mass.) won the most improved male award.
Finally, newcomers Blair Flynn (Middletown, R.I.) and Ryan Clark (Taunton, Mass.) each earned the John O'Neill Award given to the squad's most outstanding freshman.
