Kingston, R.I. - Despite strong performances from Katelyn Flynn and Tim Reilly, the Providence men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday evening in Kingston. The Providence men were defeated, 171-62, while the women suffered a 141-96 loss.

Individual winners on the women's side included seniors Katelyn Flynn and Annie Nemeth and junior Jessica McCarthy. Flynn finished first in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:14.92 and also captured the 200 individual medley in 2:16.42. Nemeth was first in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:29.58. McCarthy took first in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:19.69.

Top finishers on the men's side included freshmen Tim Reilly, Michael Loftis, and Matthew Card, and sophomore Nick Trilla. Reilly took second in the 200 individual medley in 2:03.73 and was second in the 200 backstroke in 2:01.85. Trilla finished second in the 1000 freestyle in 10:43.35. Loftis came in second in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.24, while Card was second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.77.

The Providence men's team will return to action on Wednesday, November 8, when it travels to Chestnut Hill, to take on Boston College. Both the men's and the women's teams will be in action again on Saturday, November 11, when they will host Montclair State.
