PC Welcomes Three New Athletic Staff Members

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College Athletics Director Bob Driscoll has announced the addition of three athletic staff members. Effective immediately, Jessica Hegmann has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. In addition, Patrick Leary has been named Marketing Coordinator while Steve Napolillo has been named Director of Athletic Fundraising.

Hegmann comes to Providence College from St. Peter's College where she spent the past two years as their Assistant Director of Athletics. Her duties included Compliance as well as activities as the Senior Woman Administrator. In addition, she served as the Chair of the MAAC Sports Committee for Tennis, the MAAC Standing Committee for Compliance and Enforcement, and Sportsmanship. Previously, Hegmann spent time at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in the compliance office. She also worked at St. John's University with student-athlete development was an assistant women's basketball coach at Molloy College. A member of the women's basketball team at Molloy, Hegmann graduated in 2002 with a degree in Business Management and holds the school record for blocked shots. She earned a Master of Arts in Physical Education majoring in Sports Management from Adelphi University in 2003.

A 2001 graduate of Providence College, Leary spent the past season with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League as an Account Executive / Marketing Assistant. Instrumental in developing a sales strategy for individual group plans, Leary also instituted a season-long marketing plan focused on increasing the corporate sponsor base as well as community relations. Leary also spent a year at Boston College as the Sports Marketing Assistant where he assisted in the coordination and implementation of promotions, marketing and advertising. He directed an emphasis on generating enthusiasm and excitement from marketing activities that cultivate interest and support from university groups, the community and local businesses. His responsibilities included the planning and organizing of special events such as Fan Fest, the maroon and gold spring football game, pep rallies, community clinics and family days. Leary specifically worked with the nationally ranked men's hockey team in developing a season-long marketing plan as well as a relationship with corporate partners. He also assisted in the implementation of promotions, marketing and advertising of BC's football and men's & women's basketball teams. Leary earned a Master's of Sports Administration / Marketing from Canisius College in December of 2004.

A 1998 graduate of Providence College, Napolillo comes to Alumni Hall from across campus where he spent the past three years in the Office of Institutional Advancement. As the Director of Special Programs, Napolillo organized various PC Alumni Chapters, including the athletic department's Mal Brown Club, the Newport Club and the New York Alumni Club. He also planned PC's Athletic Homecoming Events, including the Gavitt Gala and the 30th Anniversary of PC Women's Ice Hockey. Napolillo also spearheaded the Helen Burt Gala which raised over $10,000 for PC's women's athletic programs. Prior to his return to PC, the 1998 graduate spent seven seasons with the Pawtucket Red Sox. As the club's Director of Merchandising, Napolillo oversaw the Sox merchandising operations consistently exceeded goals by 200% and achieved a top-five national ranking within a three-year period. He presented the PawSox store as a model at the 2002 Baseball Winter Meetings before more than 160 major and minor league affiliates. Napolillo also spent 1996-97 in the Higher Education Institution where he was a Student Admission Counselor. In addition, since 1998, he has spent time as the Operations Manager for Sports Marketing company Dorna USA, and is pursuing his Master of Business Administration at Providence.
