PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Saturday, April 2 the Providence College women's tennis team will welcome back all former Friar tennis players, both men and women, to help support PC as they take on the Villanova Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. at Providence College. The day's events will include refreshments during the match, an introduction of all former Friar greats, a post-match reception, and more.
This year, PC's women's tennis team has outscored its opponents, 50-32, in dual matches, compiling an 8-4 record. These victories were highlighted by a first-place finish at the New England Championship on October 17th and most recently, back-to-back wins over Albany (4-3 on February 11th) and St. Bonaventure (6-1 on February 12th). The Friars are led by seniors Lindsey Christensen (Northboro, Mass.), Molly Gilbride (Topsham, Maine) and Nicole Rodger (Lowell, Mass), and junior Sara Bitetti (Norwood, Mass). These four Friars have totaled 43 of the squad's 68 singles wins, and in doubles play, have helped earn 22 of the team's 41 victories.
If you would like to come cheer on the Friars and take part in the Alumni Weekend festivities, please contact women's tennis head coach Wayne Turner at wturner@providence.edu or 401-865-1780.
