KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College swimming and diving teams competed at the University of Rhode Island this past weekend in the Harold Anderson Invitational. The women's team won three events and posted 420 points to place fourth out of five teams.

On the women's side, junior Katelyn Flynn (Sinking Spring, Pa.) edged out 13 other competitors to win the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:40.68, almost two seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Junior Annie Nemeth (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.40 and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.39). She also placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:13.04. The 200-yard medley relay squad of freshman Meghan Glynn (North Easton, Mass.), junior Katelyn Flynn, freshman Blair Flynn (Middleton, R.I.) and Nemeth posted a second-place time of 1:54.24, less than a second off the pace. Blair Flynn also placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.58.

The Providence College swimming and diving teams are off until their annual Florida training trip in January. The Friars will take on Bucknell and Western Kentucky in Fort Myers, Fla., on January 7th.
