PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Freshman Sharaud Curry scored 20 of his career-high 25 points in the second half while classmate Geoff McDermott added 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Providence to a 76-63 win over Yale on Thursday night.

For the Friars it marked their second consecutive win and put the team above .500 (5-4).

Caleb Holmes and Dominick Martin each scored 13 for Yale (5-5).

Curry shot 10-of-14 from the floor, including 8-of-11 in the second half, when the Bulldogs never got closer than five.

The Friars had eight steals and converted 18 Yale turnovers into 22 points, while the Bulldogs shot just 36 percent.

McDermott scored 12 first-half points to spark Providence to a 31-26 halftime lead, after a first half that featured five lead changes and four ties.

The Bulldogs outrebounded the Friars 26-12 in the half and took nine more shots to keep the game close.

Providence will return to action on Tuesday, December 27 versus San Diego State at 7:30 p.m.
