PROVIDENCE, R.I. (November 21, 2005) -- Providence College junior defenseman Kristin Gigliotti (Sauquoit, N.Y.) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week on November 21, 2005.
Gigliotti tallied four points (two goals, two assists) and led Providence defensively as she helped to allow only one goal on the 2-0 week. Gigliotti posted a goal and an assist in both games during the week versus the University of Vermont on Thursday, November 17 and Boston University on Saturday, November 19.
Gigliotti is second on the team in scoring with 15 points on six goals and nine assists. In only 11 games of action this season, her six goals are a season career-high. In conference play, she leads the league in scoring with 12 points on five goals and seven assists. Gigliotti is on a career-high eight-game scoring steak and is ranked second in the nation amongst defensemen with 1.36 points per game.
The Friars are scheduled to face Yale University on Friday, November 25. The very next night, the Friars will face-off against Brown University on Saturday, November 26 in the 11th annual Mayor's Cup. Both games will be played at PC's Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.
