Ashley Payton Named HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week

Providence College sophomore forward Ashley Payton (Chesterfield, Mo.) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week on February 3, 2003.

Payton earned the honor for her strong offensive play in the Friars' game on Saturday, February 1 versus No. 5 New Hampshire. Payton scored the second and third goals of the game for the Friars as they shutout the Wildcats, 3-0, at Schneider Arena. The goals were the ninth and tenth goals of the season for Payton giving her 25 points (10 goals and 15 assists) on the season. Payton is currently tied for second on the team in scoring with senior Jenn Butsch (Berlin, Vt.)

Providence College plays a home-and-home series with the University of Connecticut on Friday February 7 in Providence, R.I. at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 8 in Storrs, Conn. at the UConn Ice Arena at 7:00 p.m.
