PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Sheiku Kabba scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting to lead Providence to a 70-60 victory over Villanova on Saturday night.
Gary Buchanan led Villanova with 16 points.
Providence (13-11, 6-7 Big East), which won its third straight, broke open a close game with a 20-7 run in the last 6:40 of the game, that included 11 of 14 from the line.
Villanova (14-10, 7-4) shot 37 percent in the game while the Friars shot 62 percent in the second half and 55 percent in the game.
Providence led 24-12 in the first half on a jumper by Tuuka Kotti, but the Wildcats went on a 20-4 run capped by Curtis Sumpter's layup for a 31-28 lead with 54 seconds to play in the half. Kabba's 3-pointer tied the score at 31-31 at halftime.
Kotti finished with 14 points while Ryan Gomes and Rob Sanders had 10 each. Randy Foye had 11 for the Wildcats.
