The Providence College seventh seeded No. 3 doubles team of sophomores Molly Gilbride (Topsham, Maine) and Nicole Rodger (Lowell, Mass.) reached the championship match of the Fairfield Doubles Tournament on September 21 in Fairfield, Conn. In the finals they were defeated by Holy Cross, 8-6. Gilbride and Rodger ended the day with a three and two record.

At No. 2 doubles for the Friars the team of freshmen Cheri Lapane (Reading, Mass.) and Sara Bitetti (Norwell, Mass.). They reached the semifinal round before experiencing their first loss of the day to second-seeded Holy Cross, 8-2. It was the second strong showing for the freshmen in as many weeks.

The No. 1 team of sophomores Lindsey Christensen (Northboro, Mass.) and Katy Bednar advance to the third round of play before falling to the team from Manhattan College, 8-1.
