PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Ryan Gomes had 16 points as Providence rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit Wednesday night for a 71-60 victory over Vermont.

Maris Laksa had 15, Tuukka Kotti added 13 points and Sheiku Kabba scored 12 points for the Friars (3-1).

The only player in double figures for the Catamounts (3-4) was Tyler Koppenrath with a game-high 25 points. But he had just four in the second half.

The Friars went on an 18-5 run, highlighted by four 3-pointers, to surge ahead 49-48 in the first five minutes of the second half.

They never trailed again, extending the lead as high as 12, 67-55, in the final minutes.

Koppenrath, who had 21 points in the first half on 10-of-13 shooting, made just one basket and two foul shots in the second half. The Friars held Vermont to just 25 percent shooting in the second half.

In the first half, Vermont shot 64 percent to just 29 percent for Providence.
