The Providence College women's ice hockey team defeated Concordia University , 5-4, on Saturday, October 6 in an exhibition game at Schneider Arena.

Concordia took a 2-0 lead, scoring two in the first 4:02 of the game. Myriam Boudreau and Dominique Rancour each scored power play goals for the Stingers to give them an early lead.

The Friars bounced back at the 9:24 mark of the first period as freshman Rush Zimmerman (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) scored on a powerplay off an assist from Christa Talbot (Lake Forest, Calif.). The Friars tied the game at 2-2 at the 9:21 mark of the second period when sophomore defenseman Kelli Halcisak's (Grosse Ile, Mich.) pass found senior forward Jackie Tamsin (Branford, Conn.) who beat Concordia goaltender Lori Posluns.

The Friars took a 3-2 lead with seven minutes remaining in the second period as Tamsin tallied her second goal of the game off an assist from freshman forward Ashley Payton (Chesterfield, Mo.). The game was tied at 4-4 with 9:24 remaining when junior forward Jenn Butsch (Berlin, Vt.) scored on a wrist shot high over the Concordia goaltender. Zimmerman and Carrie Holldorf (Glenwood City, Wis.) assisted on the goal.

Providence oushot Concordia 30-8. Posluns made 24 saves for Concordia while PC's Amy Quinlan (Baton Rouge, La.) and Amy Thomas (Austin, Texas) combined to make four saves.

The victory over Concordia was PC's first win over the Stingers since the 1991-92 season.

The Friars open the regular season on Friday, October 12 as they travel to face defending NCAA champion, Minnesota-Duluth in Duluth, Minn.
