J.J. Picinic Named HOCKEY EAST Player Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College senior forward J.J. Picinic of Fort Lee, N.J. was named HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week on Monday, November 20. It marked the first time in his career that Picinic has earned HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week honors.

Picinic received his Player of the Week honor after registering three goals and two assists and helping the Friars earn two wins against 10th-ranked Northeastern University on November 17-18. On November 17, he netted the game-winning goal in the Friars' 3-1 victory over the Huskies. The following night, Picinic registered two goals and two assists in PC's 4-2 win at Northeastern.

Picinic is fourth on the team in scoring with nine points (seven goals, two assists) in 10 games. He leads the league in game-winning goals with three. Picinic is having a career-best season with the Friars. Entering the 2000-01 season, he had tallied just two goals and eight assists in 40 career games.

Picinic is the son of John and Ana Picinic. He is a 1997 graduate of the Hotchkiss School.

Providence, 7-2-1, will return to action on Friday, November 24 against Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo. at 9:30 EST.
