BOSTON, MASS. -- Junior Marc Suderman tallied two goals in the final 14 seconds as the 13th-ranked Providence College Friars defeated the 10th-ranked Northeastern Huskies, 4-2, in HOCKEY EAST action, on Saturday, November 18 at Matthews Arena in Boston, Mass.

The Friars took a 1-0 lead at 8:38 of the first period, when J.J. Picinic overpowered Huskie netminder Jason Braun with a slap shot from the right face-off circle, a power-play goal. Adam Lee and Marc Suderman assisted on Picinic's sixth goal of the season. With less then one minute to play in the first period, Picinic notched his second goal of the night. Suderman made a nifty pass through his own legs to Picinic, who then beat Braun on a slap shot, this time from the left circle, extending the PC lead to 2-0. PC's Boyd Ballard stopped 18 shots in the opening 20 minutes of play.

At the 4:05 mark of the second period, Northeastern's Joe Mastonardi notched the Huskies first goal of the night, unassisted. Ballard tried to play the puck behind is own net, Mastronardi beat the Friars' netminder to the puck and tallied his third goal of the season on a wrap-around.

Northeastern tied the game at the 5:58 mark of the third on a Chris Lynch power-play goal. The Huskies Scott Selig blasted a shot off of Ballard's pads and Lynch put away the rebound, Jim Fahey added an assist for NU.

After Northeastern's second goal, PC regrouped and scored two goals in the final 14 seconds to close the game. Suderman tipped in a Picinic rebound giving the Friars a 3-2 lead. Eleven seconds later, the Friars controlled the face-off and Suderman beat Braun for the game's final goal, assisted by Picinic.

With the win, Providence improved to 7-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in HOCKEY EAST action, while Northeastern fell to 5-4-1 overall, 2-3-1 in league play.

The Friars will return to action on Friday, November 24, at Colarado College at 9:00 p.m.
