Women's Tennis Places 10th at BIG EAST Championship

MIAMI, Fla. - The Providence College women's tennis team placed 10th of 13 teams at the BIG EAST Championship in Miami, Fla. on April 25. In their final match of the championship, the 10th-seeded Friars were defeated by ninth-seeded St. John's, 4-2.

In the loss to St. John's, PC freshman Brooke Rubin of Cranston, R.I. defeated Corina Cetateanu of St. John's (6-3, 6-1) in the No. 2 singles and PC freshman Gina Vlasek of Atlanta, Ga. in the No. 4 singles defeated Erin Jackson of St. John's (6-2, 6-1) for the Friars two wins.

On April 22, PC opened the Tournament with a 4-1 loss to seventh-seeded Georgetown. The following day, the Friars moved to the consolation bracket and earned a 4-1 win against 11th-seeded Pittsburgh before facing St. John's in the battle for ninth and 10th place.

PC posted a 1-2 mark at the BIG EAST Tournament and finished the year with a 13-8 overall mark and a 4-6 record in the spring season.
