BURLINGTON, Vt. - PROVIDENCE COLLEGE CAPTURES NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP
at New England Championship at Burlington, Vt.

The Providence College women's tennis team scored 30 points and finished first of 10 squads at the New England Championship on Oct. 23-25 at Burlington, Vt. The Friars captured four of the six singles titles and two of the three doubles spots at the Championship. Freshman Brooke Rubin of Cranston, R.I. (No. 2 singles), junior Jesse LeMasters of Cincinnati, Ohio (No. 3 singles), freshman Lindsey Gillooly of Stoughton, Mass. (No. 4 singles), and junior Kim Bergin of Winchester, Mass. (No. 6 singles) all captured singles titles. Sophomore Alison Carton of Milburn, N.J. and LeMasters combined to capture the No. 2 doubles crown and senior Katie Burke of Madison, Conn. and freshman Katie Lafayette of Norwich, Conn. won the No. 3 doubles title.
