Women's Hockey Earns Win against Maine, 3-1

ORONO, Maine -- - Senior Myia Yates assisted all three Providence goals as the Friars earned a 3-1 win against Maine in women's ECAC hockey action on Friday, Jan. 8 at Maine's Alfond Arena.

Jess Tabb gave the Friars a 1-0 lead with her sixth goal of the season at 6:07 of the first period. The Friars struck again in the first period when Val Bono blasted a shot from the point past Maine goaltender Kathleen Hedges at the 6:44 mark.

Maine's Angela Hill netted the Black Bears' only tally of the game at 9:18 of the second. Corinne Rosen added an insurance goal for PC at 7:19 of the third.

With the win, Providence raised its record to 8-3-2 overall and 7-3-2 in ECAC action, while Maine fell to 6-8 overall and 1-8 in league play.

Providence College will return to action against Maine on Jan. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in Orono, Maine.
