Providence College netted the first goal of the game when Yates lifted in a rebound during a power play at 15:59 of the first period.
Jess Tabb tallied two goals in the second period and Yates netted her second of the game as the Friars took a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. Tabb scored her first of the period when she redirected Katie Lachapelle's shot from the point past Yale goaltender Katie Hirte at the 3:30 mark. Tabb scored again at 9:27 of the second when she broke in and lifted in a backhander. Yates tallied PC's fourth goal during a scramble in front of the net as she pushed in a rebound.
Yale got its only goal of the game in the third period when Lauren Gulka poked in a rebound at the 5:01 mark. PC's Katie Lachapelle and Yates each added one more goal to seal the victory for the Friars.
DeCosta and Bridgid Keady combined to make 19 stops in net for the Friars. Hirte recorded 33 saves in the loss for Yale.
With the win, Providence raised its record to 16-5-2 overall and 13-4-2 in ECAC play, while Yale dropped to 3-17-2 overall and 1-17-2 in league play.
Providence College will return to action against Brown on Wednesday, Feb. 10 in the Mayor's Cup at Brown's Meehan Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
