PC is 15-16 all-time in BIG EAST Tournament games with one championship (1992) and three second place finishes. Saturday's game is the fifth time that PC has played in the championship round.

HEAD COACH CHARLIE HICKEY...The second year coach of the Friars picked up the 50th win of his young career with PC's 7-0 shutout in game one of Saturday's doubleheader against Georgetown. Hickey is now 57-44-1 (.561) over his first two seasons with the Friars. In only two other seasons have the Friars won more BIG EAST games than the 14 won this year (1995-16, 1996-15). Hickey became just the second coach in PC history to win 30 games in a season. The Friars were picked eighth in the preseason coaches poll. Hickey served as an assistant at Providence for five years to Paul Kostacopoulos. During his five seasons, the Friars went to a pair of NCAA Tournaments (1992, 1995), won a BIG EAST Tournament (1992) and won a BIG EAST regular season title (1995). Eight players from those teams have been drafted by Major League baseball teams.
